Shirley Mae Reiter, 75, of West Fargo, ND passed away on May 4th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the first born to Louie and Olga Reiter (Haverluk) on February 1st,1951 in Dickinson, ND.
Shirley graduated from West Fargo High School in 1969. She was awarded an academic scholarship to attend college. Shirley attended college at St. Mary’s in Bismarck, ND then moved back to West Fargo, ND where she welcomed her son Shane Gordon Reiter in 1974. He was her pride and joy and her eyes would sparkle whenever she talked about him. While living in West Fargo she held varies jobs including working as a Customer Service Manager at Wal-Mart and in the film library at North Dakota State University until retiring and working part time at Scandia Hotel.
She loved spending time with family and going on family vacations. Shirley vacationed with family in Alaska on several occasions and enjoyed many different adventures. She loved taking care of all her four-legged grand pups and was well known for spoiling and treating them as if they were her own. She had a heart of gold for all the little ones in her life and was often referred as the “grandma” to a lot of her nieces and nephews. She could almost always be found in the kitchen cooking or baking for her family/friends. She was very famous for her Mac-N-Cheese some would even call her the “Mac-N-Cheese Queen” as she would make this dish for any family gathering.
She is survived by her mother, Olga Reiter (Haverluk); her son, Shane Reiter; her siblings, Bruce (Debbie) Reiter, Beverly (Rick) Robotkay, Greg (Patty) Reiter, Darrel (Julie) Reiter, Tammy (Brad) Sandvig; and numerous other family members.
She is preceded in death by her father, Louie Reiter and her sister, Kathy Onsum.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and all who knew her.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, May 11th, 2026 @ 7pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
A funeral will be on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 @ 11am, with visitation beginning @ 10am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Fargo.
There will be a lunch served at the church after the funeral service.
