Shirley Holland Obituary

Shirley Holland, 86, West Fargo, ND died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020 at Sanford Health Hospice House on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Shirley Schiefelbein was born May 12, 1934, at Graceville, MN, the daughter of Albert and Orilla (Bury) Schiefelbein. She grew up in Browns Valley, MN and graduated from high school there.

Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Michael Holland on Oct. 6, 1953. They made their home in Fargo, ND, while Mike attended NDSU School of Pharmacy. In 1959 they moved their family to West Fargo.

Shirley and Mike owned and operated The Prescription Shop in West Fargo. They retired in 1997 but continued to remain active in the family business. They enjoyed winters in Arizona and summers at Big Cormorant Lake until Mike’s death December 19, 2013.

Mom was quietly tough, unwaveringly passionate for and supportive of her family, and was a guiding light to all of us. She now has her wings and is with Dad. Childhood sweethearts, now eternal partners in the most glorious place.

She is survived by four children, Sherry (Bradley) Olslund, Lakeville, MN, Barb (Dale) Ebensteiner, Fargo, Tim (Elly) Holland, West Fargo and Jon (Tammy) Holland, West Fargo; six grandchildren, Jana Olslund, Matt (Ashlie) Olslund, Emily Holland, Michael Holland, Katelyn (Jordan) Nelson and Ben Holland; 4 great-grandchildren: Julia, Greyson, Violet and Eli; her brother-in-law, Jerry (Barbara) Holland, Stillwater, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Susan Holland, brother Perry, sister Janet LeClair, and brother-in-law James “Butch” Holland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sanford Foundation/Fargo Sanford Hospice, 820 4th Street North, Fargo, ND 58122, or a charity of your choice.

A Private Service will be held on June 17, 2021

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery- North, Fargo.
