Sharon Hokstad

Sharon Anne Hokstad was born January 12, 1942, and passed away at home on April 3, 2025.

Sharon was the oldest child of Gordon and Marjorie Brown and was born in Glendive, Montana. With sisters, Shirley (brown) Larson, Carol (Brown) Strobel and her brother, Rodney Brown, the family lived in several places in Montana and Minnesota before settling in Fargo.

Through the help of her sister Shirley, Sharon met Robert (Bob) Hokstad, and on December 4, 1971, they married and moved to a farmstead near Hettinger, North Dakota. Sharon settled into farm-life and soon after they welcomed their 1st daughter, Lisa, followed by their son David, and another daughter, Karen. They lived there until moving back to Fargo in 1991 where Sharon worked at Kmart as a cashier until she retired. She loved interacting with the customers and seeing her co-workers.

Aside from being active in the church, Sharon also loved to travel and explore different places. Living on the farm, vacations weren’t always taken but as retirement occurred, she and Bob purchased a trailer and joined up with MAPS, which allowed them to escape the ND cold, which she despised, and travel over the winter months, helping with various missions and church projects in warmer states such as Arizona, Texas and Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob), Fargo, her three children, Lisa (James) Radtke, West Fargo, ND; David (Shannon) Hokstad, Hastings, MN; Karen (Chris) Johnson, West Fargo, ND; her 3 siblings, Carol Strobel; Selfridge, ND; Rodney Brown, Fargo, ND; Shirley Larson, Dickinson, ND. She is also survived by her 10 amazing grandchildren, Emily, Connor, Madison, Ashlee, Ethan, Lauren, Nathan, Devin, Carter and Kaleigh.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Marjorie Brown, brother-in-law Marv Strobel and her son-in-law James Radtke.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 10 am, at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND with visitation one hour before the service.

Interment: Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10 am in Hettinger, ND.
