Ruth Williams Obituary

Ruth Williams, 98, West Fargo, ND, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at home, with family by her side.

Ruth Grace Williams was born to Lloyd and Josephine (Anderson) Willey on a farm north of Windsor, ND. She grew up and attended rural Stutsman County schools. In 1940, the family moved to Ypsilanti, ND. She was second of twelve children. At age 10, she joined her father’s band, playing guitar, with her 2 brothers and 3 sisters for 12 years. On August 15, 1947, Ruth married Vern L. Williams. They rented farmland for 12 years and then purchased their first farm in 1958, north of Cleveland, ND. In 1972, they moved 9 miles north of Milnor, ND. Retiring in 2002, they turned the ranch over to Matt Larson, their grandson. They had a new home built in Kindred, ND and resided there until they moved into One Oak Place in Fargo, ND.

Following Vern’s death in 2020, Ruth entered apartment life at Bluestem Drive, West Fargo, ND. In 1974, Ruth was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We share her confidence that Jehovah will wipe out every tear from our eyes and death will be no more. Rev. 21:4.

Ruth and Vern have 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Vern on 6/23/2020, her parents Lloyd and Josephine (Anderson) Willey, 5 sisters Ruby (Harold) Clemens, Esther (Donald) Williams, Lorraine (Bill) Scott, Grace Priebe, Josephine Wirrenga, 4 brothers, Donald (Leone) Willey, LeRoy (Dorothy) Willey, Lloyd (Mavis) Willey, Ernest (Ruth Ann) Willey.

She is survived by one sister Evelyn (Ed) Steckler and one brother, Darwin (Theresa) Willey, along with many nieces and nephews.

6 children: Darlene (Bill) Larson – Milnor, ND, Elaine (Phil) Murchie – Fargo, ND, Lyle (Nancy) Williams – Jamestown, ND, Keith Williams – West Fargo, ND, Kari (Mark) Miller – West Fargo, ND, Janel Kraig – West Fargo, ND.

Per her request no services will be held.
