Ruth Ceynar

Ruth Elizabeth Ceynar from Leonard, ND passed away in her sleep Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the age of 73.

Ruth was born September 20, 1952, in Jackson, Michigan to Kenneth Fairbanks and Donna Rielette. The family lived in several states before settling in New Town, ND.

In New Town, Ruth met the love of her life Keith Ceynar. They were married on September 3, 1971 and soon started their family, having three children: Keith, James, and Donna. Keith would fondly call Ruth his “Love Bug.” During their marriage they lived in New Town, Arnegard, ND, Watford City and finally moved to Leonard, ND to enjoy their retirement years.

Ruth is survived by her son Keith Ceynar Jr, daughter Donna Ceynar, grandsons Eathan Ceynar and Dalton Ceynar, sister Judy Mills, brother-in-law Frank Mills, and sister-in-law Becky Fairbanks. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Fairbanks, and Donna Rielette, her husband Keith Ceynar Sr, son James Ceynar, and brother Richard Fairbanks

Throughout her life Ruth worked many different jobs. She was a waitress, secretary, carnival worker, ranch hand and a stay-at-home mom. Being a mom was the thing that made her the happiest. She was fiercely loyal to her family. Ruth was an avid reader of fantasy novels, enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with her family and loved a good scrabble or card game. She had a passion for collecting cookie jars and old coins. During Halloween and Christmas time, Ruth would go all out decorating. Her yard would always feature new decorations looking festive for the holidays and would delight trick or treaters at Halloween.

She will always be remembered by her family for her deep love, warm hugs and her bright smile.

There will be a grave side service at Riverview Cemetery, New Town, ND. It will be in the Spring, date TBD.
