Russell C. Strand, 76, of Amenia, ND, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Bethany on University in Fargo from complications of lung cancer.
Russell Clair Strand was born January 2, 1946, at Union Hospital, Mayville, ND to Clarence and Judith (Thuen) Strand sharing his birthday with his mother. He attended school in Amenia, graduating in 1964 and resided on the family farm in rural Amenia.
Russ had various jobs throughout his life from carpentry, farm hand and cashier at Petro in Casselton, ND. He also co-owned the Amenia Bar and Grill from 1995 – 2008, where everyone enjoyed Russy burgers.
Russ liked to fish and made the Dakota Magazine in 1989, with his 9lb 12oz walleye caught at Devils Lake, ND. Russ and Claudia loved camping and spent the past several years at Buffalo Lake Campground in Rochert, MN, where several friendships were made.
Russ is survived by his life partner of 40 years, Claudia Gebeke; siblings: David (Ardell) Strand of Amenia, Duane (Sandy) Strand, John (Christy) Strand all of Fargo, Paul (Francie) Strand, Steven (Dawn) Strand all of Casselton, and Eileen Strand of West Fargo; seventeen nieces and nephews: Jeff, Mark, Gary, Richard (Darci), Doug (Colleen), Matt, Bryan, Angie (Chuck Lehmann), Kerry (Michelle), Casey (Stephanie), Robert, Melanie, Craig, Heather, Amy King, Eric (Ashley) King, Kara (Mikal) Ihry; fifteen great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Harlan; great-nephew Brennen, also his beloved chocolate labs Buster and Sadie.

Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at West Funeral Home in Casselton, ND.
Visitation: An hour prior to the service.
