Ronald “Ron” A. Shasky, 86, of West Fargo, ND passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo from complications of a surgical procedure.
Ronald Albert Shasky, affectionately known as Ronnie, was born in Forman, ND on February 8, 1934 to Romey and Nina (Nelson) Shasky, the youngest of 5 boys. He and his brothers loved to hunt and fish. Ron graduated from Forman High School in 1952. Ron was a top athlete lettering in track and basketball. He was a member of the Rutland Roosters Baseball Club, playing first base in the 1950’s. A fine power hitter of his time! He served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 when he was honorably discharged. He married Rosemary Martin of Dickey, ND on February 18, 1967 in her hometown. They lived in Jamestown, ND for many years before moving to West Fargo in 2013. Ron and Rosemary had a son, Ryan. Ron enjoyed driving, so Ron and Rosemary would travel to the southwest part of the US often. Ron worked for Northern Improvement for 35 years and worked his way up to a Dirt Foreman, retiring in 1996. He was described as the ‘best dirt guy’ to work with. He entered Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND in 2013. The family wishes to thank all the incredible staff that had taken great care of Ron (and also Rosemary).
Ron is survived by his wife, Rosemary, son Ryan (Lisa) Shasky and two grandchildren, Alison and Benjamin Shasky all of West Fargo and sister-in-law Eunice Shasky of Breckenridge, MN, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and four older brothers and their wives, Alvin and Jean, Harvey, Paul and Patricia, and Willis Shasky. He is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Betty Martin of Dickey, ND.
The family asks that all COVID-19 social distancing practices be observed, such as wearing a face mask to help protect everyone.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 10 AM until 11 AM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 11 AM followed by military rites.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND in the afternoon.
