Ronald L. Anderson, 81, West Fargo, ND passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Kinder Care, West Fargo under the care of HIA.
Ronald Lavern Anderson was born March 3, 1944 in Enderlin, ND to James and Carla (Strand) Anderson. He grew up in Moorhead, MN graduating from Moorhead High School in 1962. In 1964, Ronald enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Independence as a boiler Technician until his honorable discharge in 1966. Upon returning to Fargo, he met Karen Peterson and they were married on August 24, 1968 at Standing Rock Church in Fort Ransom, ND.
Ronald attended Moorhead Technical College, earning a degree in Refrigeration. He started his career with CMR Refrigeration in St. Cloud, MN working with them for 15 years. He then went to work for Gardner Refrigeration in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN until his retirement. Both places he worked as a pipe fitter and commercial refrigeration, traveling all over. After his retirement he took over as Karen’s caregiver, which lasted for over 20 years.
Ronald loved to spend time on his property at Fort Ransom hunting, fishing, and just working on it. Karen and Ronald also liked to spend their summer weekends at their ski hill in Fort Ransom, creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Ronald is survived by his two children: Gary Anderson, of Casselton, ND and Kristine Owen, of McKinney, TX, five grandchildren: Jack Meland, Allison Meland, Wesley Anderson, Molly Anderson, and Reagan Anderson. He is also survived by his siblings: James Anderson, of Grand Forks, ND, Shirley Wigen, of Fargo, ND, Sandra Swanson, of Moorhead, MN, Janice (Ron) Huesman, of Lake Maud, MN, and Carol Anderson, of Georgetown, MN.
Ronald was preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents, and siblings: Eugene Anderson, Gerald Anderson, Pearline Vosburg, Dale Anderson, Donald Anderson, and Richard Anderson.
Visitation: Friday, August 29, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND.
Funeral Service: Friday, August 29, 2025 at 4:00 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND.
Private Interment: At a later date at Standing Rock Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Ransom, ND.
