Roger Sherritt, 73, of Blanchard, ND died on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024 at his new home in West Fargo, ND.
Roger was born in Fargo, ND on May 1, 1951, to Asa and Clarice (Holte) Sherritt. He grew up and worked on the family farm starting at a young age. His father died when he was 11 and his brother when he was 5. He learned the value of hard work and at age 13, he began working on a neighbor’s farm. He graduated from Dakota High School in Arthur, where he had earned the nickname, “Barney” (although he wasn’t a fan of it). Following high school, he attended Wahpeton State School of Science.
On April 2, 1977, he married Sheila Vetsch in Reno, NV. They made their home near Blanchard where they raised their family. Roger engaged in trucking during the farming off-season. He retired from farming in 1997. He then worked at Industrial Builders from 1998-2008 and trucked full-time from 2008 to the present. He also worked as a parts runner for Muscatel Auto.
Roger could often be found in his farm shop tinkering. He loved cats and dogs - though not in the house
until the last dog. Roger enjoyed movies, family time, and holidays - especially Thanksgiving.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; four children, Justin (Jenny) Sherritt, Tanya (Mitch) Wagner, Zach (Brianna) Sherritt and Tyler (fiancé Kelli) Sherritt; six grandchildren, Brady, Jaden and Lakyn Sherritt and Dylan, Ella and Brinley Wagner.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Kate Sherritt; brother, Asa Jr. “Sonny”; and sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Fok.
