Richard Paul Obermaier was born in NJ to Andrew and Gladys (Hendrickson) September 8, 1942. He went to trade school and became a tool and die maker. He co-owned a plastic mold injection business before retiring to FL in the late 80's, with their 3 daughters and families close behind, to enjoy life with wife Joanne before her passing in 2002.
He then met and married Lugene (Parkhouse) at Bethel Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Fl. in 2007. They enjoyed traveling, especially cruising. They were blessed to purchase a log home in the north GA Smokey Mountains near Blairsville. They worked long and hard to make it their Paradise, their little slice of heaven, that was enjoyed by many family members through the years and even hosted a nieces wedding in the back yard.
But Rich decided it was time to move Lugene back to family, so in 2018 they sold their "cabin" and moved to Fargo and enjoyed those few years with her family. Rich passed away at home on Friday January 7, 2022, with Lugene at his side after a yearlong battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Lugene, Fargo; daughters Lauren (Mark) Zivkovic, Kris Porcoro, and Jen Obermaier. Grandchildren Briana and Jesse Zivkovic, Rick (Allysa) and Zach Porcoro, and Great granddaughter Ava, all in Florida. Sisters Arlene (Ken) Lindley, NH, & Marge Mucci, NJ; many extended family members who love him dearly, and his best friend, Keaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joanne, sister Delores and Nancy and brother Edward.
Celebration of Life: 2 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with Visitation held one hour prior to his service.
