Randy Berntson

   Randy Berntson, 69, of West Fargo, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in his home.

   Randy Lee Berntson was born December 30, 1956, in Ellendale, ND, to Royal and Betty Jean (Greenman) Berntson. He grew up on a farm near Guelph, ND, and graduated from Oakes High School in 1975 where he excelled in athletics. He then attended the University of North Dakota with a business administration degree. He worked in the welding industry for the majority of his career, working at Red River Manufacturing, and later Trail King, retiring in 2019.

   On May 7, 1988, he married Clare Schouviller in Fosston, MN. They made their home in Fargo where they raised their two children, Andy and Angie.

   Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, aviation, and time spent at the lake. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

   Randy is survived by his wife, Clare; son, Andy (Karen) Berntson; daughter, Angie (Joe) Weinberg; four grandchildren, Easton, Rylan, Reese, and Callie; two sisters, Sylvia Matheson, Kathy (Wayne) Knipple; siblings-in-law, Marilyn Berntson, Phil (Carol) Schouviller, Gabe (Carol) Schouviller, Tony (Kelly) Schouviller, Roy (Crystal) Schouviller, Elaine (Darwin) Heley, and Steve (Michelle) Schouviller; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steve Berntson; and a brother-in-law, Dan Matheson.          

   Funeral Mass: Friday, May 22, 2026, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
