Paul Erb, 91, of Casselton, ND, passed away on December 27, 2025, at HIA Heather’s House in Fargo, ND.
Paul was born on December 8, 1934, in Beemer, NE, the son of Omar and Mary Ann (Roth) Erb. In 1937, he moved with his family to Amenia, ND, where his father purchased land and started a dairy farm which Paul continued to live on for 80 years. Paul married Delores Slaubaugh on April 10, 1958, in Wolford, ND. They were married 67 years.
In 1968, Paul purchased the family dairy farm and worked alongside his wife and son, milking cows and farming until his retirement in 2002. He continued helping his son with the farm even after he and Delores moved to Casselton in 2019.
Paul’s faith and love of God were very important to him and guided his life. He was a member of the Mennonite Church for the majority of his life and served in many ways. He appreciated his Mennonite heritage. In his later years, he attended the United Methodist Church and was a founding member of Crossroads Community Church in Casselton.
Other than farming, Paul’s interests were spending time with his family, music and his church community. He enjoyed seeing his many family members and was always up for a game, whether it was at Sunday family game night or his daily game of Upwords with his wife. Paul’s love of music was evident in his nightly guitar playing, helping with music at church and singing hymns around the piano with family whenever he could. In retirement, he became both an avid reader and puzzler.
Paul is survived by his wife, Delores, of Casselton, ND; six children: Brenda (Dayton) Gilbert of Hopkins, MN; Marilyn (Elwood) Hochstetler of Fargo, ND; Galen (Carolyn) Erb of Amenia, ND; Lori Erb of Eagan, MN; Lisa (Eric) Swirczynski of Dallas, TX; Paula (Paul) Hurth of Hopkins, MN; eleven grandchildren: Kedrick (Allison) Hochstetler of Ogema, MN; Jenna Hochstetler of Fargo, ND; Stephanie (Jamie) Robl of Balsam Lake, WI; Nicholas (Tara) Gilbert of Edina, MN; Suzanne (Alex) Pfingsten of Leonard, ND; Madeline (Alex Siegel) Gilbert of San Francisco, CA; Noah Hurth of Minneapolis, MN; Alexandra(James) Carlson of Minnetonka, MN; Christina (Phil) Erb of Tigard, OR; Benjamin Hurth of Council Bluffs, IA; and Joseph(Josie Newhall) Hurth of Nashville, TN; seven great-grandchildren; six sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
