Patricia Nelson

Patricia Nelson, 88, of Lisbon, formerly of West Fargo, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at Parkside Lutheran Home in Lisbon.

Patricia Ann Smith was born on December 18, 1935, in Borup, MN to Errol and Beulah Smith. She was baptized on March 29, 1936, at Winchester Luther Church. She attended school in Borup for one year before the family moved to Moorhead, MN. They lived in Moorhead for two years prior to moving to West Fargo, ND where she would spend the rest of her life.

Patricia loved West Fargo. She graduated from West Fargo High School in May of 1953. She was a proud member of Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo since 1944. Her first job was at the West Fargo Dairy Queen at age 15. After she graduated high school, she went to work with the Commission Firms of Farmers Union and McDonald Livestock doing secretarial work. Patricia also spent six years at Liebmann Packing Company before finishing her working career in the West Fargo School Business Office where she worked for 12 years.

On March 21, 1958, Patricia married Irvin (Punchy) Nelson in Aberdeen, South Dakota at the First Presbyterian Church. Patricia cherished the 13 years that she and Irvin spent in Lake Havasua, Arizona together during the winter months and the many summers they spent at their cabin on Leek Lake near Vergas, Minnesota.

Patricia was called to join the love of her life, Irvin, on December 16th. She leaves behind a daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Hickman, Palm Harbor, FL, a son Keith (Dana) Nelson, Enderlin, ND and a daughter Kay Hodgson, East Grand Forks, MN, nine grandchildren; Ashley, Megan, Nicole, Heather, Hope, Heath, Heidi, Josh, Cody and 19 great grandchildren.

Patricia was proceeded in death by her husband Irvin, her parents, sister Dorothy Smith, twin brothers Darvin Smith and Marvin Smith, son in-law Richard Hodgson, grandsons Travis Nelson, Derek Hickman and Michael Hickman, and one great-grandson, Brayden Nelson.

Memorial Service:  10am Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Faith Journey Lutheran Church in West Fargo.

Visitation:  9 to 10am prior to the service.

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo.
