Pastor Mike Jacobson Obituary

Pastor Mike Jacobson, 52, Casselton, ND entered eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND following his cancer journey.

Michael Thomas Jacobson was born Nov. 24, 1969 in Fargo, ND to Reuben and Katheleen (Nelson) Jacobson. The son of a pastor, he grew up in Chaffee, Hatton and Park River, ND. He graduated from high school in Park River. Mike served in the US Navy for 10 years on the USS Eisenhower in Norfolk, VA, NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA and the USS Theodore Roosevelt in Norfolk. He continued in the reserves for another year. He married Jennifer Blackstone on Aug. 1, 1992 in Grand Forks, ND. Following his discharge, he worked at CACI Field Services and RCI (Resource Consultants Inc) both in Virginia Beach, VA. He then continued employment as a civil servant at NAS Lemoore, CA. He then attended West Hills Community College and received an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, followed by Fresno Pacific University with a Bachelors in Christian Ministries and Luther Seminary with a Master’s in Divinity. Mike served his internship at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch, MN. From there he was called to serve Trinity Lutheran in Cooperstown, ND and on April 1, 2016 he started his call at Martin's Lutheran Church in Casselton.

Mike loved golfing, bowling and being a grandpa. He's a member of the American Legion, USBC, Casselton Ministerial and South Central Senior Tour. He was also a community man and served as the Griggs County Central High School Boys Golf Coach while in Cooperstown and was currently serving as the Central Cass High School Boys Golf Coach.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; three children, Brittany (Tylor Igou) Hagen of Spencer, IA, Shelby Jacobson of Wolverton, MN and Zachary (Wanda) Jacobson of Leeds, ND; grandchildren, Gavin Hagen, Brynlee and Journee Igou, Kaylee, Kaysen, Kaycee Igou, Landon Tompkins, Gage and Nathan Jacobson, Zachary Bahr, Azalea, Christan and Katheleen Jacobson, Mikey Lister and soon expected grandson Thomas who is due on Mike’s birthday; siblings, Belinda (Bert) Ready, Stewart (Susan) Jacobson, Steven (Ruth) Jacobson. He is also survived by Jennifer's parents, Karen Blackstone, Bill (Kelly) Blackstone Jr., and Jennifer’s siblings, Beth (Carmene) Carbone and Laurel (Craig) Blackstone; along with several nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David (Laurel) and Larry (Angie); and a nephew, Eric.

Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton. Family requests those attending to wear their favorite sports attire.
Funeral: Friday, Sept. 23 at 11 AM at Martin’s Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Casselton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Martin's Lutheran Church.
