Norbert Edward Miller, 83, of Farmington, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 15, 2023 while residing at a memory care unit at The Legacy of Farmington. He was born on August 9, 1940, the first of twin boys, to Emil and Mathilda (Gienger) Miller in a farmhouse near Gackle, ND. He attended a one-room country school until 8th grade and then went to high school in Gackle and graduated as Salutatorian in 1958. He went on to attend the North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU), and earned a degree in animal science in 1963.
His first job out of college was as an assistant county extension agent in LaMoure County, ND. He then went on to become the long-time market reporter for The Union Stockyards in West Fargo, ND, holding that position from 1964 to 1985. During that time he developed a large listening audience in the area. When his position was eliminated, he continued to give market reports for the local livestock auction in Wishek, ND every week after moving there with his family. He worked full time as a field representative for Cass Clay Creamery in the Wishek and surrounding areas until 1995. He continued to work for Cass Clay in the Fargo area until 2003, when he went to work for NFO as a field representative in Minnesota. He retired in 2008, but continued to drive school bus for different districts in the area and deliver meals on wheels until 2019.
Norbert was introduced to Eileen Natvig of Fargo in 1967. They were married on October 27, 1968 in Fargo, and eventually built a new house in West Fargo. They were blessed with 3 children, Luther, Angela, and Sarah. He loved the sport of baseball, all things farming, history, and reading. He was a man of faith and religion was very important to him. He served on the church council, as a communion deacon and contributed to various church committees.
Norbert leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen; his children Luther of Fargo, Angela (Hugo) Villarreal of Lakeville, MN, and Sarah (Adeel) Afzal of Montgomery, TX; and grandchildren Leila Afzal, Lena Afzal, and Reagan Villarreal. He is also remembered by his sisters-in-law Patricia Miller, Karen Miller, LaVonne Gunderson and Patsy Natvig; brother-in-law Curtis (Irma) Natvig, and many other relatives and friends.
He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Emil and Mathilda, in-laws Irene and Orin Natvig, twin brother Norman and younger brother Calvin, brothers-in-law Harley Natvig and Peter Gunderson, and nephew, Kriss Boatman. Norbert's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
