Nancy Miller Obituary

Nancy Jonson Miller, 63, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Nancy J. Jonson was born Jan. 18, 1961 in Fergus Falls, MN to John and Irene (Holt) Jonson. She grew up in Battle Lake, MN and graduated from high school in 1979. She continued her schooling at Alexandria Technical College where she received a dietary degree. She started her career in dietary at the Battle Lake Nursing Home before moving to Fargo, ND. Nancy married Timothy Miller on July 1, 1989 at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. They lived in the Fargo Moorhead area where she worked for 37 years at Bethany Retirement Living in the dietary department. Her time there included being a manager and retiring as the director of the department in May of 2023.

She loved her family and friends and was always thinking of others. Nancy played the role of being Tim’s “life coach” keeping him on life’s journey and making sure he was eating right as well.

Nancy had a love for life. She enjoyed travels in her Volkswagen bug and taking her great nieces, Maddie, Kenley and Ella for a ride. She also cherished time going to their school activities as well.  Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, reading, bowling, golfing and making jewelry. She enjoyed time spent at the lake and warm weather along with her canine companions.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Tim; special nephew and niece, John and Lacey Severson and their daughters, Maddie, Kenley and Ella; nephew, Robert (Elidia), niece, Kelley and nephew, Gary (Kristi); brother, Gary (Peggy) Jonson; brother-in-law, Orly Bjerketvedt; along with Tim’s family – siblings, Cathy (Gordy) Nichols, Cindy Skalsky, Pastor Mike (Rachelle) Miller, Tom (Melanie) Miller and Terry (Sherry) Miller; sister-in-law, Trona Miller; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita Bjerketvedt; Tim’s family – his parents, Myron and Ruby Miller; brother, Mark Miller; and brother-in-law Ed Skalsky.
