Myrtle Mattson, 96, Argusville, ND died on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Halstad Living Center in Halstad, MN.

Myrtle Irene Mattson was born at home on June 5, 1924 to William and Edith (Sloan) Mulvaney. She started school in Ayr and later moved to Amenia, graduating in 1942.She attended Moorhead State and taught briefly at the Sullivan school. She married Eugene (Gene) Mattson December 7, 1945 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. They made their home on the Mattson farm near Argusville, ND where they farmed for 51 years and were active members of Herby Lutheran Church, moving to Fargo following retirement.  A few years after Eugene’s death in 2004, she resided at Sheyenne Crossing in West Fargo, ND until early 2020 when she moved to the Halstad Living Center.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Jane) of Britton, SD and William (Bill) of West Fargo, ND and one daughter, Marilyn Schenck of San Leandro, CA; 7 grandchildren, Andrew (Heidi) Mattson, David (Toni) Mattson, Michael Mattson, Melissa (Brady) Woodard, Amy (Kris) Cannode, Corey (Erin) Schenck, Janessa (Alex) Mason; and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gene; brothers Gordon, Raymond, Meryl and Harvey Mulvaney; and daughter-in-law Sandra Mattson.

Special gratitude to the staff at Sheyenne Crossing, Halstad Living Center and Hospice of the RRV.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Herby Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, Argusville, ND, Hospice of the RRV or any charity of your choice.

A private family service will be held. The public can watch the service on the West Funeral Home website starting Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020 at 5 PM.

Burial will be at the Herby Lutheran Cemetery.
