Michael Lister

Michael Wayne Lister, 78, of Fargo, ND died peacefully on Friday morning, October 10, 2025.

Michael was born on February 1, 1947, in Concordia, Kansas. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1965 and started a long career in the United States Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a U.S. Army dog handler as part of the 25th and 34th Infantry Platoon Scout Dogs. Michael retired from the army in 1988 after 23 years of service with the rank of First Sergeant. He later settled in Elbow Lake, Minnesota and worked as a CNA at Barrett Care Center for 20 years.

Family would like to give an honorable mention to Mike's brothers from the 34th & 25th Infantry Scout Dog Patrol.

Michael is survived by his wife, Dora Lister of Fargo, ND; son, Shane Lister, daughter, Dawn Pearson (Jim) Fargo, ND; grandsons, Seth, Jake, and Kyle Pearson of Fargo, ND; sister, Dustynne West (Lou Rushing) of Riverview, FL and brother, Philip Lister (Jeffrey McCasland) of Edgewood, NM.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Carl Lister and mother, Dora Mae Lister of Miltonvale, KS.

Celebration of Life Service: Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10 AM, West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour before the service.
