Mary Louise Brown, age 91, of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, passed away peacefully at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, North Dakota on September 5, 2025. Born on December 27, 1933, in Hamilton, Ohio, Mary was the second oldest child of John and Lillian (Knipper) Baker. She attended St Ann grade school and Notre Dame high school. After graduation Mary attended modeling school, did some modeling for local stores, and worked at Ohio Casualty Insurance Company.
On June 23, 1956, Mary married Robert (Bob) Brown at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hamilton, Ohio. The couple settled in Hamilton and then moved to Marion, Indiana in 1959 for Bob to pursue career opportunities. Bob remained employed in Marion, but the family moved to a larger city, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1970. Upon Bob’s retirement in 2002 he and Mary moved to Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.
They moved to West Fargo, North Dakota in April 2025 to be close to their son James and his family.
Mary was an athlete in high school playing several sports. She was a devoted wife and mother, supporting her children in their academic and athletic pursuits. Mary was very involved in the Catholic church and school, volunteering in multiple capacities. Mary, along with lifelong friend Lorraine Bangert, founded the Sunshine Club, which provided clothing and toys to those in need for over a decade. They were honored with a stained-glass window in the church dedicated to them and their efforts.
Mary is survived by her son James and two beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her brothers, Robert (Bob) and William (Bill); her sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Gill; and her son, Robert Scott.
Mary’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest in peace, Mary. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
In lieu of flowers, Mary and her family would appreciate memorial donations to their beloved charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
