Marvin Judisch, 97, of Hillsboro, N.D. formerly of Arthur, ND, died Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Sanford Hillsboro Care Center.
Marvin, the middle child of Edwin and Alice (Wagner) Judisch, was born April 15, 1923 at the home farm near Erie, N.D. He grew up on the family farm north of Erie and attended Dows Country School until his father passed away in 1937. This is when Marvin became a farmer. In 1947 the Judisch family moved to a farm northwest of Amenia.
Marvin married Dalice Grieger on September 14, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church, Arthur, N.D. Marvin and Dalice made their home on a farm one mile east of the Judisch farm. Along with farming, Marvin drove rural milk truck and worked for many years at the Amenia Seed and Grain Elevator. He also worked at the Amenia Coop and drove beet truck for an area farmer.
Marvin was always a willing volunteer to serve his church and community. Marvin and Dalice lived on the farm until 1997 when they moved to a cottage at the Good Samaritan Center, Arthur, N.D. Marvin and Dalice enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends in Texas, Arizona, and California. However, Marvin always said, “He liked North Dakota the best!” Dalice passed away in 1998 after almost 30 years of “surviving” cancer. Marvin was always her “number one” nurse and truly showed all of us what through sickness and health really means.
Marvin continued living in his cottage at the Good Samaritan Center and volunteered numerous hours at the Center, helping with Bingo, playing cards, field trips, and getting the “Sunshine” newsletter in the mail. He and Dalice had always been local sports fans. Marvin continued attending as many games as possible.
In July, 2012 Marvin moved into the Good Samaritan Center and continued living there until August of 2019 when he moved to Sanford Hillsboro Care Center, Hillsboro, N.D. When Marvin’s health made it difficult for him to attend local sporting events, he continued to watch the games through live-streaming.
Marvin was a loving husband, unkie, brother, and friend.
Marvin is survived by sisters, Evelyn Smith of MO, and Lois Frost, Hunter, N.D.; brother, Robert (Helen) Judisch, Erie, N.D.; and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, August.
