Marvin Iszler Obituary

Marvin Iszler, 87 years old, a long-time resident of the Fargo area, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at KinderCare of West Fargo.  He was born January 10, 1933 in Venturia, North Dakota.

Marvin enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and was stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, Camp Kilmer in New Jersey, and received an Occupational Medal of Honor while he was stationed at Rhein-Main Air Base near the city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This is when he met Margo, his wife of 65 years. After the Air Force, Marvin returned to West Fargo and began working with his dad at the West Fargo Stockyards.  After a short time there, he started training horses with Muscatel in Minnesota.  He spent a few years traveling around the United States showing horses. He wanted to devote more time closer to home, so he started working for Bob’s Transfer in Moorhead. Marvin spent the majority of his career working for Wrigley Mechanical in Fargo and retired when he was 62.  Marvin and Margo lived in Fargo/West Fargo until her death May 17, 2019.

Marvin loved showing horses, all animals, collecting beer steins and keeping an immaculate yard.  He was a long-time member of the El Zagal Shrine Arab Patrol in Fargo and spent many years working at the Shrine Circus.

Marvin is survived by his nephews Tom Wallat (Carla) of Federal Way, WA, Mike Wallat (Jolene Hufty) of Seattle, WA, Tom Navratil (Heidi) of Vancouver, War; sister Liz Jones of Canada;  and sister-in-law Marliese Wallat of West Fargo, ND.

The family would like to thank Taylor, Melanie and staff of KinderCare of West Fargo for their care, dedication and love for Marvin these past years.

Graveside Services for Marvin will be held 10:30am Thursday, October 1st at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.   Military Honors provided by US Air Force Honor Guard, and VFW Post #762, Fargo, ND.
