Marlow Smith

Marlow Smith, 90, formerly Wheatland, ND died on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Eventide of Fargo, ND.

Marlow was born April 15, 1932 at Wheatland to Harry and Lucille (Scott) Smith. He graduated from Wheatland High School. Marlow married Angeline “Ange” Beilke on Sept. 14, 1951 at Embden, ND. They made their home near Wheatland, ND where they farmed. They later farmed at Ayr, ND for four years and then back to Wheatland. Marlow started working for Northern Improvement in Fargo in 1969 and retired in 1997. He moved into Casselton, ND in December of 2016 and recently moved to Eventide Assisted Living in Fargo.

He is survived by three children, Duane (Linda) Smith of Casselton, Karen (Mike) Thompson of Hillsboro, ND and Nancy (Doug) Hovey of Dent, MN; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Raymond) White, Heather (Rick) Arechigo, Casey (Michelle Anderson) Thompson and Jeremy (Mary Lammott) Thompson, Doug Hovey Jr., Sara (John) Kosobud and Ondrea (Jeff) Routledge; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Mavis Hanson of Fargo; brothers, Merlon Smith of Fargo, Mahlon (Laurie) Smith of Bowman, ND and Manard (Judy) Smith of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Betty Minnehan of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marlow was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ange; two granddaughters, baby girl Smith and Samantha Smith; brothers, Marvin (Phyllis), Melvin and Milton (Elayne); brother-in-law, E. Charles Hanson; and sister-in-law, Maggie Smith.

Visitation: Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 3 to 5 PM with a prayer service at 5 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton.

Funeral: Monday, March 27 at 2 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, Embden, ND with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: St. John Cemetery, Embden.
