Marlin Joel Anderson, 55, of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, passed away leaving behind a life defined by compassion, authenticity, and adventure. Born June 19, 1970, and raised in West Fargo, North Dakota, Marlin built a remarkable life that carried him across the world while always staying grounded in kindness and connection.
For over 23 years, Marlin served with pride at United Airlines, never once arriving late, and always pouring his love of travel into his work. His career was not just a job but a calling, a way to bring people together while he himself embraced the wonder of discovery. He traveled to countless countries and cultures, never as a tourist but as a student of humanity; openhearted and eager to learn. Along the way, he mastered multiple languages, each one a bridge that deepened his connection with the people he met and the friendships he built around the world.
Marlin had a rare gift for friendship. His circle of friends spanned continents, and many of those bonds lasted for decades. He carried people with him wherever he went, and his one-of-a-kind laugh made every gathering brighter. He was deeply compassionate and always wanted to do right by others. His empathy never wavered, even toward those who may not have shown it in return.
Above all, Marlin lived a life most people can only dream of. He was proud of his life in New York, proud of who he was, and proud to love fully and without apology. His presence was a reminder that kindness and curiosity can shape a meaningful life.
Marlin is survived by his mother, Bernadine Anderson; his sisters, Yvonne Krabbenhoft and Vicki Overby; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Myron Anderson.
He will be deeply missed by family, friends across the world, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
