Maria Elena Sanchez Mayo, daughter of Joe García Sanchez and Elvira Castillo Sanchez, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023, in Fargo, North Dakota, with family members by her side.
Maria was born July 28, 1938, in Lockhart, Texas. She graduated from Lockhart High School. She then married Humberto “Gilbert” Mayo in 1958. Together they have eight children: Sonia Mayo, Maria (Dean) Jetty, Gilbert Mayo, Jr., Christopher Mayo, Timothy Mayo, Sandra (Scott) Montoya, Gabriel Mayo, and Samuel (Cody) Mayo.
