Margaret Kensok Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth (Lux) Kensok, age 95, of Casselton, ND, passed away in her home with family present on March 19, 2025. Born on May 31, 1929, in Everest, ND, Margaret was the youngest child of Frank and Magdalena Lux. She attended school through eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse in Everest and graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton in 1947. Following graduation, Margaret pursued her passion for nursing by enrolling at the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Fargo, ND. She worked in various hospital departments while taking classes at NDSU and Minnesota State Moorhead. After earning her RN degree in 1950, she began her career in pediatrics at Dakota Clinic.

On November 3, 1951, Margaret married Linus Martin Kensok at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton. The couple settled on a farm near Wheatland, ND, and together they lovingly raised their family of eleven children. Linus retired from farming in 1987, and the couple later moved to Casselton in 2018. Linus passed away in 2022, just months after they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She cherished her family deeply, ensuring every relative felt special with birthday cards containing handwritten messages. She was an avid reader and loved games, especially cards, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, and WORDLE. She was also a passionate Minnesota Twins fan. Margaret always had a stash of chocolate chip cookies and bars in her freezer. She made graduation quilts for her grandchildren and was a dedicated member of St. Leo’s Parish, where she taught religious education for many years and participated in Bible study groups.

She is survived by ten of her children: Leslie Cox of Hawley, MN; Jeanne (Malcolm) Rodacker of Grand Forks, ND; Ann (Mike) Faught of Absaraka, ND; Rick (Shirley Kemmer) Kensok of Wheatland, ND; Mary Beth (Dan) Mathis of Tumwater, WA; Jack (Mary) Kensok of Detroit Lakes, MN; Tracy (Joe) Sinner of Littleton, CO; Terry (Shari) Kensok of Wheatland, ND; Bill (Amy) Kensok of West Fargo, ND; and Bobbi (Steve) Miller of Fargo, ND. Margaret also leaves behind 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as her brother-in-law Paul (Maureen) Kensok of Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Linus Kensok; her brothers Francis, Joseph (Eleanor), and Mannie “AJ” (Alice) Lux; her sister Marie (Jim) Dooley; her daughter Lynn Kensok; her daughter-in-law Kate Kensok; her son-in-law Dale Cox; her granddaughter Michelle Kulasingham; and many other cherished relatives.

Margaret’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Mom. Your love and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten.
