Lynne Rae Marie Finer, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 17, 2026, at Parkside Lutheran Home in Lisbon.
Lynne was born on April 20, 1944, to Joseph and Veronica Kasowski. She was raised in rural Casselton, where she worked alongside her family on the farm. She attended Lincoln High School in Casselton, now Central Cass High School, and remained proud of her education and the memories she made there.
As a young woman, Lynne worked in the maternity ward at St. Luke’s Hospital, caring for newborn babies. She later moved to the Seattle-Tacoma area, where she worked at Sears and later U-Haul, serving as a store manager. During that time, she married and welcomed her beloved daughter, Veronica Rae, lovingly known as Roni. Following the heartbreaking loss of her daughter to a brain tumor at the age of 14, Lynne treasured the memory of Roni in many ways, including continuing a turtle collection inspired by her daughter’s love for turtles.
Lynne later returned to North Dakota, where she worked as manager of Stop-N-Go on South University until her retirement. She was a devoted member of her church and often served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her faith in God was very important to her, often encouraging others by saying, “You just get on your knees and talk to God, He’ll hear your prayers and answer you.”
Lynne was known for her strong work ethic, deep faith, generous heart, and contagious laughter. She loved her family dearly and especially cherished babies and children. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her parents and sisters, attending WeFest, gardening, and caring for her flowers. She also found joy in watching the birds and clouds and seeing the sun rise and set. Her generosity was evident throughout her life, including anonymously donating one of her kidneys to someone in need.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Veronica Rae “Roni” Finer, her parents, Joseph and Veronica Kasowski, her sisters, Diane (Robert) Askew and Mary (Jerry) Ford, her brother, Phillip (Ruth) Kasowski; and a sister-in-law, Sydney Kasowski.
Lynne is survived by her brothers, Gary Kasowski of Cle Elum, Washington, and Lon (Virna) Kasowski of Park City, Kansas, and her sisters, Maureen Kasowski of West Fargo, North Dakota, and Joette (Duane) Luther of Alice, North Dakota.
Memorial Service: Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Interment: St. Leo’s Cemetery, Casselton, ND.
In accordance with Lynne’s wishes, guests are invited to wear bright colors rather than black.
The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Parkside Lutheran Home in Lisbon for the care and compassion shown to Lynne over the past year.
