Lynn Cameron Nelson (77) of Fargo, ND, passed away in Mesa, Arizona, on April 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Lynn was born on June 7, 1948, in Fargo, ND, to Oman and Clarice Nelson. Growing up in Walhalla, ND, Lynn was involved in many sporting events and outdoor activities.
Lynn was a member of the US Army and was stationed in Vietnam. He was honored with a purple heart during his deployment.
He attended college and graduated from Mayville State University. After working as a history teacher in Hope, ND, Lynn changed career paths and began working as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor in Minot, ND, and then transitioning to Jamestown, ND. While in Jamestown, he worked in various roles at the South Central Human Service Center, including vocational rehabilitation counselor, assistant director and director. Toward the end of his career, he also added on Director of the Lake Region Human Service Center.
In November 1971 Lynn married Sandra Christenson and they had two children, Nicole and Eric. The family enjoyed spending many summers at Long Lake in Detroit Lakes, MN, traveling, biking, and attending sporting events, theater presentations, and many of Nicole and Eric’s various activities as they grew up. Lynn was very active and in his spare time he enjoyed participating in bowling, golfing, playing softball, wallyball, racquetball, tennis, and basketball.
Lynn and Sandra enjoyed traveling, with trips taken to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, the Canadian Rockies, a Fall Foliage tour to New England, and various National Parks. Sunland Village in Mesa, Arizona, became their winter home and Lynn spent many years golfing, exploring, and learning about the history of Arizona. Lynn enjoyed reading, watching and attending various sporting events, playing guitar, and attending concerts.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Sandra, daughter Nicole Clemens (Mike) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Eric Nelson of St. Louis, MO, and sister Collette Jerstad (Faron) of Fargo, ND.

Burial: Friday, June 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
