Lyle Swanson, age 77, of Lake Park, MN, died Friday, January 20, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Lyle Wayne Swanson was born to Carl & Lorraine (Peterson) Swanson on September 9th 1945 in their Pelican Rapids home. He grew up in the Pelican Rapids area and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1963. He attended Alexandria Vocational Tech and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Mechanics.
October 11, 1969, he married Valerie Rose Freer at First Congregational Church in Moorhead, MN. The couple made their home in Moorhead and had two daughters, while he worked at Hall GMC in Fargo, ND. They moved for a short time to Bemidji, MN, where Lyle worked for Thorson’s as a Diesel Mechanic. They moved back to Moorhead in 1977 and was there for 24 years; they then moved to the Lake Park Area, and he retired from RDO Truck Center.
Lyle enjoyed to snowmobile, hunt, fish, spend time at the lake, and any honey-do-list that the love of his life made for him. His last unfinished project was painting her lawn ornaments for the spring for her.
He was very proud of his 5 grandsons and cherished all of his friendships that he had acquired over the years. He liked to play shuffleboard and card games and loved spending time with his dogs Sweetheart and Riley.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 53 years Valerie, daughters Kim (Rod) Schock and Anita (Jerry) Burnside. Five Grandsons, Ryan (Holly) Schock, Riley Schock, Zaine (Kayla Carter) Perkins, Lucas Burnside, Kallob Burnside and two Great-Grandchildren Mia and Jaxon Burnside. He is also survived by his sisters Connie and Betty; a brother-in-law Neal (Paula) Freer, sister-in-law Gleeann (Randy) Pendleton, and his two nieces and two nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Barbara and Bob Freer, infant brother, sister Irene Whitlock and her husband George, brother-in-law James Patterson, his special aunt and uncle Donna and Omar Johnson, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
Celebration of Life: Saturday June 3rd, 2023, at 11 am in Cormorant Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN, with Visitation held one hour prior to his service.
