Luella (Klimek) Ulmer

Luella Ulmer, 89, West Fargo, ND died on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Sanford Health on 23rd in Fargo, ND surrounded by family.

Luella Catherine Klimek was born April 30, 1935 near Millerville, MN to Rudolph and Helen Klimek. She grew up on the family farm one of four siblings and attended school in Millerville, MN. She moved to Moorhead, MN and worked at St. Ansgar Hospital before moving to Fargo where she worked at St. John’s Hospital in dietary. Luella married Norman Ulmer on Feb. 18, 1954. She also worked privately doing housekeeping and payroll with her sister, Shirley. Luella eventually retired from NDSU after working several years as a custodian.

Luella was active volunteering in the Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and cooking. Family was of utmost importance – whether it was their large Christmas gatherings, “chicken” Sundays or family game nights. She loved to play BINGO and riding with Norm on the Honda motorcycle trike. She also cherished her dogs, LJ and Benson.

Luella is survived by her children, Rick Ulmer of Fargo, Susan Doran of West Fargo, Lori (Mike) Pedersen of Fargo, Carol (Bruce) Van Den Einde of Gardner, ND and John Ulmer of West Fargo; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Paul) Dukart of West Fargo; sons-in-law, Dan Gable and Jack Glaser; daughter-in-law, Candace Ulmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; daughters, Lynette and Kathy; sons, Danny and Randy; grandson, Shad Glaser; daughter-in-law, Mel Ulmer; son-in-law, Jerry Doran; and siblings, Marvin and Gary Klimek.

Funeral: Friday, Nov. 1, 2024 at 3 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery – North, Fargo.
