Lowell Albert

Lowell Albert, Sr of Erie, ND, died on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Lowell Harry Albert was born December 30, 1936, in Erie, ND, the son of Harry and Helga (Sogge) Albert.  He was raised on the family farm in Erie Township, rural Erie, ND.  He attended the Erie School, graduating in 1955.  Lowell then enlisted in the Army and served in the 7^th Field Artillery Searchlight Platoon in Korea.  On a leave from the Army, he married Lois Turner on October 28, 1956, at Mayville, ND.  Following his honorable discharge, Lowell and Lois farmed the Albert farm through the years and raised their children. Lois passed away in 2011.

Lowell’s wife, children, grandchildren and especially the great-grandchildren were all very near and dear to him. He was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church.  In high school, Lowell was a member of the Erie Braves basketball team and was proud of his 55 point game, later playing with an independent team.  He really enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball.  Lowell will be remembered for the 5 acre garden planted each year.  He enjoyed supplying and visiting with friends when they stopped by for produce, and also donating to the Food Pantry. Lowell had worked up the garden plot for next year just several weeks ago.

He is survived by his three children:  Lowell Albert Jr. of  Erie, Kemper (Doug) Albert, of Minneapolis, MN and Jo (Dale) Lako of Hunter, ND:  8 grandchildren:  Matt (Stephanie) Albert, Ben (Tami) Albert, Shelby (Andy) Lyons,  Caitlyn (Scott) Martin,  Samuel Albert, Beth (Luke) Bush, Jake (Kelsey) Lako and Sam (Erik) Andersson; great-grandchildren:  Mason & Hadley,  McKenzy & Kora,  Loretta, Evan,  Sophia, Isaac, Eli & Emma,  Tristan, Ignatius, Reuben, Jonathon & Desmond, Carl & Alan; sisters:  Betty Wilson of Fargo and Harryette Sjursen of Phoenix.

He was preceded in death by parents;  wife:  Lois;  sisters:  Lorraine Kuball & Darlyn Sjursen.

In lieu of floral pieces and monetary gifts, memorials are preferred to your favorite charity.

Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.

Visitation:  An hour before the service.

Final Resting Place: Erie Cemetery.
