Lorraine Kensok Obituary

   Lorraine Kensok, 94, passed away on April 1, 2025 at Eventide in Fargo, North Dakota.

   Lorraine was born November 7, 1930 at home on the family farm near Chaffee ND to Lawrence and Anna (Lysher) Baumler. She attended Gill Township School No. 44 and graduated from Chaffee High School in 1947. After graduating from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph MN she taught home economics in Osakis MN and Mott ND.

   Lorraine married Ronald Kensok on October 17, 1953 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton ND. They lived and farmed in the Wheatland area while raising their six children.

   Lorraine was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, where she taught religion classes and participated in a couples Bible study for many years. She served as a leader of the Wild Rose 4-H Club for 13 years and was active in the 49ers Homemakers Club for many years. Lorraine enjoyed tending her beautiful flower beds and doting on her grandkids.

   Lorraine and Ronald enjoyed spending summers at their cabin on Upper Cormorant Lake in Minnesota and trips to visit their family in the U.S. and Europe. After Ronald retired from farming in 1991, he and Lorraine continued to live on the farm until moving to Casselton in 2004.

   Lorraine is survived by her husband Ronald, six children: Steve (Cheryl) Kensok, Mesa AZ; Kathy Kensok, Phoenix AZ; Jerry (Arlene) Kensok, Fargo ND; Rita (Neil) Wockenfuss, Warrenton MO; Tim (Karen) Kensok, Lakewood Ranch FL; Paula (Kevin) Thiel, Normandy Park WA; eight grandchildren: Joe (Sally) Wolff; Jill (Jeremy) Christianson; Katie Kensok; Amy (Anand) Philip; Jennifer (Jim) Petoskey; Stephanie (Paul) Devitt; Ali Thiel (Kyle Pournaghdi); Daniel Thiel (Julia Azarcon), and 12 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Stella Baumler, Fargo ND and Julie Baumler, Moorhead MN; brother-in-law Orville Kensok, Redlands CA; and many nieces and nephews.

   Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Anna Baumler; brothers Clarence (Margaret) Baumler, Eddie (Helen) Baumler, Leo (Marie) Baumler; Bernie (Vera) Baumler; Larry Baumler; Ray Baumler; and sisters Leona (Ralph) Janitell; Betty (Ronald) Jaeb, Patricia Baumler; and sisters-in-law Sandra Baumler, Jean Kensok, Liv Kensok.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Leo’s Cemetery or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation: Sunday, April 6 at 5:00-6:00 p.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton ND followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral: Monday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.

Burial: St. Leo’s Cemetery, following the funeral service.
