Lorna Pfingsten Obituary

With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Lorna Ann (McNutt) Pfingsten, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 23, 2026.

Born on October 27, 1957, in San Diego, California, Lorna was the oldest daughter of Paul and Elizabeth "Liz" (Green) McNutt. She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1976 and earned her nursing degree from North Dakota State University in 1980.

On November 14, 1987, Lorna married the love of her life, Dalon Pfingsten. Together they shared nearly 39 years of marriage, raising their children, Jordan and Shelby, and creating a home built in faith, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Lorna dedicated 38 years to serving families as a Registered Nurse at the Family Birth Center. Throughout her career, she brought compassion and skill to patients during life's most meaningful moments. Her vibrant spirit and joyful heart left an impact on the families she served and the colleagues who worked alongside her.

Lorna treasured her role as a mother. She found joy in cheering her kids on in all they did; spending summers at the pool, biking the streets of Fargo, and attending NDSU sporting events year after year. Her quick wit and desire for finding a good deal made her a fun shopping partner. She was a talented crafter and a skilled seamstress. One could always find her with a good book, browsing in Eddie Bauer, or studying her Bible. Lorna valued quality time with family and friends and could light up any room.

A woman of deep faith, Lorna found her strength and hope in Jesus Christ. Her faith guided her daily life, shaped her character, and impacted many.  She was a faithful member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church and Bible Study Fellowship, where she built meaningful friendships and grew in her walk with Christ. Lorna also devoted many years volunteering at Park Christian School.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and now rests in eternal peace with her Savior.

Lorna is survived by her devoted husband, Dalon; children, Jordan (Denver, CO) and Shelby (Ryan) Nygard (Fargo, ND); and her 3 grandchildren, Landon (5), August (3) and Ellery (1); father, Paul McNutt (Fargo, ND); sister, Lisa Dahmen (Bellevue, NE); father and mother-in-law, Augie and Marlys Pfingsten (Enderlin, ND); Brothers and sister-in-law, Darla (Kit) Gonser (Brainerd, MN) Darin (Marcie) Pfingsten (Fargo, ND), Debra (Trent) Roesler (Leonard, ND), Daric (Jana) Pfingsten (Wahpeton, ND); aunts Linda McNutt (Bayport, MN) and Kay Strawn (Atlanta, GA); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth McNutt and uncle, Wes McNutt.
