Lois Wadell

   Lois A. Wadell passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

   Lois Arlene was born February 26, 1945, to Peter and Elsie (Bovkoon) Dubovoy. She grew up on the family farm in rural Max, ND, and graduated from Minot High School in 1963. On June 27, 1964, she married Roger Wadell in Minot, ND. The following year, they moved to St. Paul where they started their family and later, in 1977, they moved to Horace, ND. Lois was very invested in her Horace Community.  She was a member of the City Council, The Jayceettes, Park Board and Spooktacular playground fundraisers. Lois played Mrs. Claus during the holidays, visiting children in their homes. She was also instrumental in starting Horace Community Days. Then, in the late 90’s, Lois and Roger moved to Fargo where they made life long friends in their little community on the bike path that ran past their back yard.

   Lois held some interesting jobs, from Executive Secretary to Newspaper Columnist, but her most rewarding occupation was teaching at the Horace Daycare. She loved children and enjoyed hearing about their lives after they grew up.

   Lois loved to read. She was somewhat of a speed reader finishing several books a week. If you see a little star inside the cover of a book, it’s one she read. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and always wrote them in ink. Lois was a Twins fan and faithfully watched their games every day.

   Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; parents; brother, Gordon Dubovoy; mother-in-law, Evelyn Hillman; father-in-law, Arnold Hillman and sister-in-law Carol Turchin.

   Lois is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Alan) Okke, Vergas, MN; son, Jason (Heather) Wadell, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Alexander Okke, Vergas, MN; Spencer and Megan Okke, Fargo, ND; Sydney Wadell, Fargo, ND and Cormick Wadell, St. Paul, MN.

Visitation: Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 2-4 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
