Lois Anna Mahtilda Marshall, 103, of Wheatland, ND, passed away peacefully Thursday early morning, January 16, 2025, at Eventide Fargo.
Lois was born August 7, 1921, in rural Leonard, ND, to Earl and Lena (Otto) Koetz. She was one of 3 children, along with her two brothers, Everett and Roger. Lois grew up in the Leonard and Wheatland area, spending her early years working on the family farm until she met and married her husband Wilfred “Butch”, in 1957, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Lois and Wilfred would shortly thereafter welcome their first and only child, Laurie. Together as a family outside of Wheatland, Lois and Wilfred would farm until their retirement in the early 2000’s. Following retirement Lois and Wilfred moved to Heritage House in Fargo where they enjoyed meeting and making many new friends. Following Wilfred’s passing in 2006, Lois moved to Sheyenne Crossings, and later Eventide, where she resided until her passing.
Lois was a lifelong and very active member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church where she assisted in many different activities such as the church bazaar, the church choir, Sunday school, and many others. Lois had a love for gardening and enjoyed making dried flower arrangements. Lois also had a passion for crocheting, sewing, and later, Brazilian embroidery.
Lois is preceded in passing by her husband Wilfred; her parents, Earl and Lena; and her brother, Everett. She is survived by her daughter Laurie (Jerry); four grandchildren, Peter (Carrie), Erik (Danielle), Justice (Jenna), and Adrian (Tess). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Adelle, Harlow, Haven, and Tate; as well as her brother Roger (Phyllis).
A service to remember and celebrate Lois's life will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Peter Lutheran Church of rural Leonard, ND. Visitation with the family will be held the day prior, Monday, January 20, 2025, from 4:00pm-6:00pm, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00pm, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo, ND. Burial will take place following services Tuesday at Watson Cemetery.
