Lloyd Waldahl, Jr. Obituary

Lloyd Waldahl, Jr., 68, Sheldon, ND, died on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at his home after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Lloyd Arthur Waldahl, Jr was born on August 12, 1957, at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, ND, to Lloyd and Roslyn (Schobinger) Waldahl. He was the youngest of five siblings that enjoyed growing up in Embden, ND. He attended Buffalo High School and participated in many activities and sports, including being a member of the mythical State Champion football team in the fall of 1973. He graduated in 1975.

Lloyd attended NDSU and it was through his college roommate, Bob Offermann, Jr., that he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Debbie Offermann. They were married on October 7, 1977, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. They made their home in rural Embden while Lloyd worked for Dietz Construction, Albright Construction and later Wood Specialist. During this time, they welcomed their two daughters, Teresa and Tara. The family moved to Casselton in 1991 and later Amenia before settling on the Offermann family farm north of Sheldon.

Lloyd’s favorite job was working as a janitor at Central Cass Public Schools before he accepted a job with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at Hector International Airport in Fargo. After retiring from TSA, Lloyd returned to his rural roots and worked for Quality Seed in Alice, ND before retiring a second time in 2022. In retirement, he enjoyed maintaining roads for Highland township.

Lloyd was an avid sportsman his entire life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and was a member of the Four Corners Wildlife Club and taught hunter safety for over 20 years. He was a spirited supporter of his daughters, and later grandkids, at their sporting events and a fan of NDSU football and the Green Bay Packers, through good and bad seasons.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Teresa (Brady) Duffy of West Fargo, ND and Tara (Lindsay) Skavlem of Reynolds, ND; three grandchildren Grace, Hannah, and Benjamin; siblings, Chuck (Mary Jane) Waldahl of Turner, MT and Ellie Gregerson of West Fargo, ND; aunt, Ginny Schobinger of Fargo, ND; brothers/sisters in law Cindy Waldahl of Casselton, ND, Brad (Karla) Offermann of West Fargo, ND, and Diane (Jeff) Huss of Staunton, VA; and many nephews and nieces.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Judith and Paul; brothers-in-law: Gene Bader, Jerry Gregerson, and Bob Offermann; and his in-laws Robert and Darlene Offermann.
