Obituary

Lloyd Thomas Manley was born April 27, 1942, in Fargo, ND. to his parents Lloyd Thomas Manley Sr. and Pearl Evelyn (Quinn) Manley. His father and sister passed away when Lloyd was just a few months old. He graduated from high school at Fargo Central in 1960. He entered the army at that time and spent three years in Germany. He was there during the Berlin Crisis and the Cuban Crisis. He returned home and married his sweetheart Ann Lau in 1965. They moved to the Minneapolis area and had two children, Kathleen and Michael. They moved back to this area and resided for 30 years in Dilworth, MN. There they had their daughter, Deborah. All the kids were raised in Dilworth. Lloyd and Ann moved to Perley, MN in 1997. When Lloyd started showing signs of Alzheimer’s they moved to their condo in Moorhead, MN. There they resided until his death. Lloyd suffered a stroke on Friday August 4th at his home. He died in Sanford Hospital on August 9th.

His work experience was extensive. He worked for the US Postal Service, Moorhead Transportation as a bus driver, a semi driver for Coca Cola, Security guard, courier for Meritcare, but his favorite job was a bail-bonds agent. He always had at least 2or 3 jobs at a time. He was a volunteer fireman for Dilworth and Perley. He was in the National Guard as an EMT and volunteered on the emergency Hot Line. Lloyd also tried his hand at his own business: Fence Building and then there was Amway, Tupperware and Melaleuca. When he was 15, he was Columbus I, from the Fargo Forum and Parade Magazine where he won a trip to Spain and Portugal for being an outstanding paperboy.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Ann, children Kathy (Todd) Pfingsten, West Fargo, Mike Manley, Halstad, MN, and Debbie (Robert) Manley, Dilworth, MN., seven grandchildren Kayla (Justin) Manley, Ashley Cossette, Echo (Jake) Martin, Megan (Tyler) Hensel, Josh (Elizabeth) Kertscher, Elizabeth Muralt, and Carl Crater, and seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Henry, Aderah, Sophia, Charlotte, Clarity and Veah, three siblings, Peggy (Gary) Hopkins, Frazee, MN, Nicki (Sheila) Watson, Mahnomen, MN, and John (Brenda) Milligan of Fargo, ND. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Sr., Pearl, stepfather John, brothers: Ron, Jack, and Jim, sisters: Shirley, and Barb.

Lloyd was an avid fan of the NDSU Bison and the Minnesota Vikings. His daughters took him to watch all the Bison games. Everyone will remember his crazy, wild, but TRUE stories.

Funeral Service:  Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 2 pm in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND

Military Honors:   ND National Guard Funeral Honors Team,  American Legion Post #21 and VFW Post #1223, Moorhead, MN 

Interment:  Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND, at a later date
