Lloyd Iverson Obituary

Lloyd Curtis Iverson was born in Mekinock, ND to Martin and Randina Iverson. He attended a country school followed by Grand Forks Central High School. On November 6, 1954, he married his childhood sweetheart, Eileen, in Michigan, ND.  A year later, he entered the army and was stationed in the territory of Alaska from 1955 to 1958.

Lloyd and Eileen returned to North Dakota and eventually made their home in Grand Forks. They lived in the same house for over 60 years before moving to Sheyenne Crossings in August of this year. He worked at the North Dakota State Mill and Elevator for 32 years where he started as a sweeper and worked all the jobs until eventually becoming the Plant Systems Operator over all three of the mills. He also owned and managed an apartment building.

Lloyd was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He hunted deer and made several trips to Colorado to hunt Elk. He also enjoyed hunting ducks, geese, and for a time fox and mink. He had a trailer in East Bay Campground at Devils Lake and enjoyed having his family and grandchildren join him. One of his biggest joys was taking his family and grandchildren out in his boat and teaching them how to fish. He was an avid gardener and for several years worked in not only his large garden on the banks of the Turtle River, but two others with a couple of his good buddies. They raised so much produce they sold some to the local Hugo’s grocery store. Lloyd also loved carpentry work and working on cars. Even after his stroke in 2008, he found ways to continue enjoying many of his hobbies and often designed and built tools that helped him.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Eileen, sister Margaret Sehler, brother Robert (Gloria) Iverson, daughters Deborah (Gregg) Perreault, Jane (Tom) Whaley, Janelle Iverson, grandchildren Jennifer Perreault, Jason (Jessica) Perreault, Jeremy Perreault, Jessica (Adam) Cartwright, Julie Perreault, Amanda (Jared) Hoeft, Alice (Mark) Kuhnlein, Catherine Whaley, Andrew Whaley, Lance Iverson and great grandchildren Camden, Brecken, Oliver and Nathan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Milton and nephews Marc Sehler and Rodney Iverson
