Linda Dahl Obituary

Linda Kay Dahl (Heyerdahl), 76, of Kalispell, Montana earned her wings and flew home on May 29th, 2026 at Renaissance Senior Care with family by her side.

Linda was born on October 16th, 1949 in Fargo, North Dakota to Charles and Martha Heyerdahl (Lunde). Linda was raised on a farm near Hannaford, North Dakota along  with her three siblings.

After graduating high school, Linda attended NDSU where she attained a degree in education. Linda was happily joined in marriage to Douglas J. Dahl on September 22nd, 1973 at the Eidfjord Lutheran Church in Hannaford, a few years later they were blessed with a son they named Douglas. Several years after starting a family Linda returned to school and received a masters degree in education, after which she became a teacher of family and consumer science at West Fargo High School. Linda took great pride in her career and was a very caring teacher that left a big impression on her students, she was definitely a favorite to many of them. Linda selflessly retired from teaching in 2011 to stay home and care for her husband Doug, after his triple bypass surgery.

When Linda wasn't teaching, busy grading papers, or caring for her husband she loved spending time with family and friends, often cooking delicious meals for them. Linda also enjoyed music, going to concerts, gardening, sewing and traveling with her family. Her travels included trips to Europe and California when she was younger, trips to Mexico with her husband, to Montana to see family and ski as well as several  trips around the United States to visit her son Doug in many of the places he lived or was visiting. Later in life their traveling included going to see him and his family in California where she eventually moved after her husband's passing as she needed more support due to Alzheimer's and dementia.

Linda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Amissa Dahl, brothers and sisters-in-law, Eric and Doni Heyerdahl, Gary and Annette Heyerdahl, sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Dick Hanson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jackie and Josh Sherlock, sister-in-law, Jennifer Weeks, granddaughter, Kya Bommersbach as well as several nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her husband, Douglas, and her parents Charles and Martha Heyerdahl.

A public memorial and reception will be held at 2 pm on June 27th, 2026 at West Funeral Home in West Fargo, North Dakota for all who wish to pay their respects.
