Lee Dobberstein

Lee E. Dobberstein, 81, West Fargo, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Sanford Health. 

Lee Erland Dobberstein was born June 4, 1939, in Sisseton, SD, the son of Roy and Rhodia (Cummings) Dobberstein.  He attended Lien #6 rural school and graduated in 1957 from New Effington High School.  Lee also attended a year of business college in Sioux Falls.  He worked on a farm for a few years and later was the assistant manager of United Building Center in Casselton from 1961 to 1966.  Lee married Janet Ruediger in 1962, in  Breckenridge, MN.  Lee then worked for the North Dakota Highway Department for 38 years, retiring in 2004. 

He enjoyed his grandchildren Amy, Megan and Jacob and always looked forward to family gatherings.  Lee enjoyed teasing others around him when his family and friends were to gether.  Another great joy for him was when he could get together with his buddies and drink coffee. 

Grateful for sharing in his life: Janet, his wife of 58 years; his children:  Debbie (Perry) DeWald,  Jeff Dobberstein, Brian (Malou) Dobberstein;  3 grandchildren;  a sister:  Lois (Dobberstein) Ruediger and a brother:  Roland (Caroline) Dobberstein and  numerous nieces  and nephews .  

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother:  Myron. 

Funeral Service:  10 a.m.  Saturday, January 23, 2021, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.

Visitation:  8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Burial:  Holy Cross South, Fargo, ND 

Covid-19 guidelines will be followed.  Masks are required.
