Lawrence “Duck” Millard, age 75, of West Fargo, ND, died Thursday, December 31, 2020, at his home under the care of Hospice and his loved ones.
Lawrence Michael Millard, known as Duck, was born December 15, 1945 at Canby, MN, the son of Donald and Esther (Mikkelson) Millard. He grew up in Sauk Rapids, MN, where he graduated from high school. He entered the US Air Force in 1964, and it was there he became known as “Duck”. He served as an Air Traffic Controller, serving two tours of duty in Korea and one in Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged in 1985 as Chief Master Sergeant, ending his 21-year Air Force career at Minot AFB.
Duck was united in marriage to Rita Schloeder in 1968. She died in 2009.
Duck was a big hunter, enjoying all types and seasons. He taught archery, including his passion for Long bows. Following retirement, Duck enjoyed summers at Pike Point Resort on Gull Lake near Tenstrike, MN.
He is survived by his companion Debby Morse, West Fargo; his 6 siblings: Bruce (Judy), St. Louis Park, MN, Doug (Colleen), Sartell, MN, Gail (Jim) Leikvoll, Little Falls, MN, David (Nancy), Lakeland, MN, Mary (Rich) Vouk, Albany, MN, Deb (Tom) Robison, St. Paul, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Duck was preceded in death by his wife, their infant daughter, his parents, a sister Linda and a brother Roger.
His Service will be held at a later date.
