Laura (Holkesvig) Vigen

   Laura Annette (Holkesvig) Vigen, 84, Fargo, ND, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

   Laura was born on September 2, 1936 in Mayville, ND, to Edwin and Lillian (Finell) Holkesvig. She grew up and attended school in Portland, ND, where she enjoyed growing up with numerous cousins and friends. On June 30, 1956, Laura married Charles Vigen at Aurdahl Lutheran Church in Portland. They made their home near Hatton, ND, until they moved to Mapleton, ND, in 1962, where they continued to farm and raised their four children - Lorelle, Wesley, Paula and Faye.

   Laura was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who cared for others with great compassion. She lived life with a smile and brought smiles to those around her. Laura’s optimism and generosity were infectious. Her faith and humor were undeniable.

   Laura is survived by her daughters, Lorelle Olson (West Fargo), Paula Ringdahl (Fargo), and Faye (Brian) Jorgenson (Gillette, WY); daughter-in-laws, Heather Vigen (Fargo) and Laurie Carda (Aberdeen, SD); seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Ryan (Amy) Olson and great grandchildren Hanna and Ava (Andover, MN), Jason (Tiffany) Olson and great grandchildren Kyla and Ari (Prior Lake, MN), Nicole (Brian) Kiewel and great grandchild Ella (West Fargo); Kyle (Jessika) Vigen and great grandchildren Westen and Wyatt (Wilmot, SD), Chase (Zoey Heitkotter) Vigen (Fargo), Chelsey Jorgenson (Wheatridge, CO), Brooke (Nathaniel) Dominguez (Windsor, CO); sister-in-law, Wanda (Bill) Miske (Las Vegas, NV); and brother-in-law, Larry (Kim) Vigen (Richmond, TX).

   Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lillian Holkesvig; husband, Charles Vigen; son, Wesley Vigen; granddaughter, Cayla Jorgenson; sons-in law, Bruce Olson and David Ringdahl ; brothers, William and John Holkesvig; sister-in laws, Sharon Holkesvig and Shirley Hegg; brothers-in-law Arleigh Vigen and Earl Hegg; and mother-in law Hazel Vigen.

Private Family Funeral: Friday, January 8, 2021 at 10am at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.  one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
