Larry Wilcox

Larry Wilcox, age 74, of Ayr, ND, died Friday, August 4, 2023, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND

Larry Dean Wilcox was born on June 30, 1949, to Lewis and Lois (Huso) Wilcox, Ayr, ND.

He attended Ayr Public School and after graduating attended NDSU, graduating in 1971 with a BS in Mechanized Agriculture. While there he made many life-long friends. Larry was a farmer at heart, from an early age he often trailed alongside his grandpa Harry, who lived on the same farm. As he matured, he found he liked tinkering in his shop as much or more than farming. He became a collector of antique crawlers and tractors, and other unique and vintage items.

Larry enjoyed being a part of the Ayr and surrounding communities. He served as a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church council, as a fourth generation Wilcox family member on the Ayr Township Board and more recently as Chairmen of the Cass County Weed Board. He greatly enjoyed the time he spent as a Shooter’s Ed Instructor for community youth alongside friends at Page Jaycees.

Larry became a private pilot and delighted in taking people for rides in his airplane. He followed in his father’s footsteps by continuing the tradition of an annual fall threshing day at the family farm. Friends and neighbors would come to share in the reminiscing of days gone by. He was generous with his time and would stop to help family, friends and neighbors in need.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his sisters Lana (Clark) Roscoe and Lori Edlund, brother Lavoy (Heidi) Wilcox; four nieces: Jodi Edlund, Erica (Jason) Mitsche, Miranda (Adam) Rutten, Haley (Grant) Lind; three nephews: Sean (Nicole) Edlund, Jon (Teresa) Roscoe, and Ian Wilcox; ten great nieces and nephews as well as cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Roger Maris as well as the compassionate caregivers at Sanford Hospice House.

Graveside Service:  Wednesday, August 9th at 10 AM, in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, ND
