Larry Bishop

   Lawrence Patrick Bishop of Horace, ND passed away on January 21st after enduring a long battle with cancer.

   Larry was born October 30, 1950 to Lawrence B. and Patricia (Olson) Bishop in Fergus Falls, MN.  The family moved to Fargo when Larry was seven.  He attended school in Fargo, graduating from Fargo South High School.

   He started working as a teenager for Corwin and Steen and Berg.  It was there he restored his first car.  After that Larry started his lifelong career as a welder and machinist.  He began working at O’Day Tank and later worked for Steiger Tractor and Case IH.  Prior to retirement he worked for PEMNA building firetrucks.  Larry also worked for a time at St. Lukes Hospital in the engineering department and later as a boiler operator.  It was there that Larry met his wife.

   Larry married Linda Burchill on September 9, 1978 in Moorhead, MN.  They made their home in Fargo and later in Horace.

   Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a patient teacher of his skills and his love of the outdoors to his nieces, nephews, and wife.  Larry and Linda enjoyed hunting and fishing together, especially salmon fishing on their trips to Alaska.

  Larry is survived by his wife Linda, sister Lynde Borchert, Fargo and nephews Scott (Renee) Lahren, Fort Wayne, IN and Steve (Beckie) Lahren, Moorhead.  He is also survived by sister-in-law Gayle Burchill, sister and brother-in-law Jan and Sam Vangsness, nieces Mandy (Eric) Swenson, Ashley (Jason) Frerichs, nephews Luke (Amanda) Vangsness, Duane (Jolene) Burchill Jr., Darren (Pam) Burchill, Doug (Jolynn) Burchill, and Dustin (Sarah) Burchill.  Other survivors include several great nieces and nephews and their faithful dog Freddy. 

   Larry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Judie Lahren.

Visitation: Friday, January 28, 2022 from Noon until 1:00 PM at Community Presbyterian Church, West Fargo, ND.
