Lana Landphere Obituary

Lana Landphere, 69, of Minot, ND passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Lilac Homes in Moorhead, MN after a long illness due to Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Lana Muriel Hendrickson was born on February 17, 1953, in Grafton, ND to Theodore and Muriel (Skavhaug) Hendrickson.  Lana spent her early childhood years in Adams, ND surrounded by a large, close-knit, extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  The family moved to Minot in 1964 where she completed her elementary and high school education.

On October 10, 1975, she was united in marriage to Russell Landphere.  Lana and Russ lived in rural Surrey, ND where they raised their two children, Russell and April.  Lana and Russ moved to the Minot area in 2005.

Lana was a devoted stay-at-home mom during her children's early years.  Later, she attended Minot State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1989 with a B.S. degree in accounting.  She began her career as a Certified Public Accountant at the Minot Vocational Workshop for five years.  For twenty years, she was Chief Financial Officer at Minot Housing Authority.  She also acted as both CFO/CEO there for a time before her retirement due to illness.  In addition, she taught accounting classes at MSU and was treasurer of an investment club.

Lana was an intelligent, wise, witty and kind person who was devoted to her family.  She enjoyed spending time with parents, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Lana's diverse talents and interests included gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing.  She was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She loved boating, fishing, rock and roll and motorcycle rides.  She was an avid reader as well as a "darned good" mechanic.  Lana was a long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church in Surrey, ND where she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, cooked for bazaars and potlucks, made lefse for church fundraisers, and prepared the church newsletter.

Lana is survived by her children Russell T. (Jenn) Landphere, West Fargo; April (Mark) Glen, Mashpee, MA; grandchildren Oliver, Sullivan, Maverick and Tavius Landphere; Rory, Abigail and Sawyer Glen; siblings Karen Bender, Clancy, MT; Robbin (Jody) Hendrickson, Bismarck, ND; Carla Scantlebury, Wilsall, MT; Becky Hanson, Clancy, MT; Sister-in-law Sharilyn Hendrickson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother Brian Hendrickson; granddaughter Charlotte Glen; and brothers-in-law.
