LaVerne "Vernie" L. Ames, 85, West Fargo, ND passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her home.

LaVerne “Vernie” L Ames, 85, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on June 12th, 2025 in her home of West Fargo, North Dakota. Her bright spirit will leave a void, her family cannot fill.

She was born in North Dakota in 1940 to George and Clara Martin on their family farm with her 2 sisters, Olivia Jones and Ruby Leiss. Vernie was preceded in death by her last husband Gerald Ames, Gerald Verville (2nd husband), and Ronald Wallum (1st husband). She most importantly was a devoted mother to her four children, Scott Wallum (Parvin), Todd Wallum, Tammy Nicholson (Jameel), and Sheri Burden (Hershel III). Vernie also had 1 granddaughter who was her pride and joy, Lexi Mikovich.

Vernie took great joy in her sewing especially gathering with all of her friends to learn about new machines and techniques. One of her very last projects she accomplished was creating a quilt for her granddaughter with the help of her sewing friends. A special thanks for all of their help in fulfilling her wish to complete the quilt before her passing.

Her smile and laughter will surely be missed by all but her spirit will forever linger in our hearts.

Visitation: Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Memorial Service: Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
