Kirby Wayne Dahl passed away Monday, August 15, 2022, at Sanford Health in Fargo. He was born February 10, 1954, in Valley City, ND. The son of James and Marilyn (Tharaldson) Dahl, he was raised in Dazey, ND and graduated from North Central High School. He joined the U.S. Navy on December 28, 1973 and was honorably discharged January 7, 1976. Kirby married Diane Eli on February 14, 1993, in Fargo. The couple lived for 25 years in Prosper, ND and then moved to West Fargo. He was employed by the North Dakota Veterans Hospital in Fargo for 20 years in Environmental Services and later worked 15 years for the Fargo Public Schools as an assistant engineer for building maintenance. Following retirement in 2016, Kirby worked part-time as a valet for Sanford.
Kirby enjoyed fishing, Vikings, football, snacking, walking daily, TV shows "Blue Bloods" and "Gunsmoke". He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Kirby was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife: Diane of West Fargo; children: Joshua (David Valdez) in Hawaii, Natasha (Derek) Brewer of Aberdeen, SD, Paula (David) Bader of West Fargo and Brian (Jennifer) McDaniel of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren: Marcus Brewer, William (Marissa) Bader, Wyatt (Beth) Bader, Westin (Lexi) Adilis, Lucas McDaniel, Zachary McDaniel and a great-grandson arriving in December.
Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Friday August 19, 2022, at Faith Journey Lutheran Church in West Fargo.
Visitation: An hour before the service.
Burial: Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
In lieu of floral arrangements, funds are requested to be sent to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
