Kermit J. Olson

Kermit J. Olson, age 90, of West Fargo, ND, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, surrounded by his family at Kinder Care, West Fargo.

Kermit John Olson was born February 6, 1933, at Fort. Ransom, ND, the son of Ludvig and Nora (Larson) Olson.  He grew up there and graduated from Fort Ransom High School.   Kermit entered the US Army in 1958.    On May 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to Doraine Ward at Fort Ransom.    He served for a time in Germany, and was Honorably discharged in 1960.

Kermit began working with Globe Electric in West Fargo, starting his long career as an electrician.   He retired in 1995.

He was a member of West Fargo VFW Post #7564, and IBEW Local 1426, Fargo.   Kermit loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.   He enjoyed keeping a nice yard, and his kids grew up “assisting”.   Kermit spent special time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kermit is survived by his wife Doraine, four children Bryan (Laurie), Dickinson, ND; Debbie (Sid) Schmidt, Mapleton, ND, Brent (Carmen), Jamestown, ND, DeAnn (Wayne) Gronbeck, West Fargo; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and his sister Dorothy Olson, Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Duane.

A Family Celebration of Life will be held this summer at the family farm at Fort Ransom, ND.   

Interment will be at Standing Rock Cemetery, Fort Ransom.
