Kent Eldon Eicholtz, 91, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026 surrounded by family.
Kent was born January 28, 1935 at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota to Eldon and Ella (Bartholomaus) Eicholtz. He was the youngest of 3 boys and they grew up on the family farm. He attended Embden grade school and Lincoln High School in Casselton where he lived with his grandparents Charles and Ida Bartholomaus.
After leaving home, he lived with his oldest brother, Earl, for a time and worked moving buildings. Thereafter, he worked for Haug and Haugen learning the masonry trade and then worked for Twin City Construction before starting Eicholtz Masonry in 1966. Sons Steve and Jim made Eicholtz Masonry their career, and Bonnie helped with bookkeeping. Kent retired in 1999.
Kent had 2 older brothers, Earl and Vincent. Vincent was killed in the Korean War.
Kent married the love of his life, Bonnie Mae Gulland, on October 7, 1955 in Martin’s Lutheran Church in Casselton. He and Bonnie attended Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo and raised their family in Fargo. They also enjoyed time at their lake cabin on Upper Cormorant Lake and their winter get-away in Mesa, Arizona. They had 4 children, Steven, Sheryl, Jim and Peggy, five grandchildren, Tyler and Erin Eicholtz, Tracy, Kyle and Russell Landis, and two great grandchildren, Jack and Annie Saladin.
Kent’s favorite pastimes involved spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an honorable, honest, kind, trustworthy, hard-working man and an amazing and fun father, grandfather and friend. Kent also enjoyed dancing with Bonnie, hunting, lake life, golf, playing cards and traveling with Bonnie to Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada to gamble. Kent was known to always have a good joke or two to tell and even sharing them with hospital staff a short time before he passed.
Kent is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bonnie, of Fargo, son Steven (Lisa) Eicholtz of Fargo, Sheryl Eicholtz-Landis (John Brummer) of Lake Park, Minnesota, Peggy (Jeff) Koon of Fargo, grandchildren Erin (Brett) Saladin, of Fargo, Tracy (Kelby) Lemar of West Fargo, Russell Landis of Grand Forks, great grandchildren, Jack and Annie Saladin of Fargo, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Ella Eicholtz, brothers Earl and Vincent Eicholtz, son James Eicholtz, grandsons Tyler Eicholtz and Kyle Landis.
