Keith Nudell

Keith Nudell, age 77, of rural Luverne, ND, died Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in his home under the care of his family and Hospice.

Keith was born December 15, 1944,  in Fargo, ND, to Lorne and Helen Nudell. He was raised in Buffalo, ND, and attended school there, graduating in 1963. He attended North Dakota State College of Science at Wahpeton, studying in auto mechanics.

In 1967, Keith was united in marriage to Barbara Koppang of Fargo.  Keith and Barb made their home in Harwood, ND, where they had four children Bradley, Katie, Eva, and Andy. At the age of 75, Keith was also blessed with a stepson, David McMullen, with whom he shared an instant bond.  Keith worked various jobs including Industrial Builders, maintainer operator for Cass County, Gold Label Feeds, and finally retiring in 1995 from Pepsi-Cola. In 1996, Keith and Barb moved to Lake Ashtabula where Keith lived out the remainder of his years.    In 1971, Keith was diagnosed with intestinal colitis. The treatment and medication were not what they are today, and his entire colon was removed. The doctors told him that he did not have long to live so he spent the next 51 years living life to the fullest. He suffered many side effects from this surgery, but his will to live was strong and he never let it hold him back.

He was a member of the Argusville Fire Department and the Sodbusters Club of Sibley, ND, winning Sod Buster of the Year in 2014.  Keith spent his retirement years restoring cars and tractors, working various fundraisers, driving pilot car for Warrior Manufacturing,  and fishing - even winning Bullhead tournaments on Ashtabula many times.

Keith was very well known in his community and always willing to lend a helping hand. We would like to thank the community of Lake Ashtabula for lending a helping hand to Keith in his final months, helping to secure his wish of living his final days at home.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years Barbara Nudell;  brother Kent (Michael) Nudell of Corpus Christi, TX;  sister Kim (Alan) Webster of Custer, SD; children David McMullen of Ventura, CA, Brad Nudell of Harwood, ND; Katie (Kelly) Tomlinson of Camp Hill, PA; and Andy Nudell of Kindred, ND; seven grandchildren; and many, many friends.

 Keith was preceded in death last month by his loving daughter Eva.
