Keith Haring Obituary

Remembering the life of

Keith J. Haring

Beloved husband, father, and grandpa.

Keith James Haring, 69, of West Fargo was called to heaven, passing on Monday, July 19, 2021, in his home.

Keith James Haring was born September 12, 1951, in Breckenridge, MN, the son of William Harris and Alvina Margaret (Frankfurth) Haring. He was raised in Wahpeton, ND, and in September of 1971, he married LaVonne Guderian, his wife of almost 50 years. Keith attended North Dakota State School of Science, where he completed a certificate program and became employed at Eakes Office Equipment in Grand Island, NE. Following this, the family moved to West Fargo where Keith was employed at Advanced Business Methods for 26 years. He later used his knowledge and expertise in tools and building at Jeld-Wen, Acme Tools, and Lowe’s, where he retired from in December of 2018.

Keith was a jack-of-all-trades, and known to be able to fix, or as he would call it, “MacGyver” anything. He had a passion for woodworking and made a number of beautiful furniture pieces for many of his loved ones. A “Keith Original” resides in the home of each of his children. He also designed and custom-made parts of his workshop that assisted in his woodworking. Using his skills as a craftsman, he put his blood, sweat, and tears into countless additions and improvements, not only in his own house, but in the homes of each of his children. Keith enjoyed playing guitar, a self-taught hobby he started in his teens and continued throughout his life. He also enjoyed learning and playing the songs he liked and having sing-a-longs with his children. In his later years, he cherished being able to share this love of music and guitars with his grandchildren. He also took pleasure in sports, which he shared with his children and grandchildren, and developed a love of golfing with friends and family in his leisure time.

Among the many who are grateful having shared in his life and memories include his wife, LaVonne of West Fargo and his children, Stuart (Jodie) Haring of West Fargo, Heather Haring-O’Donnell of West Fargo, Stacy (Chad) Galbraith of Fargo, and Ryan (Angela) Haring of West Fargo. Keith loved sharing his time and talents with his grandchildren, Tyler O’Donnell, Noah O’Donnell, Chloe O’Donnell, Aidan Galbraith, Kasey Galbraith, Abbigail Haring, and Colten Haring. He also had a soft spot for his fur-grandchildren, Axl, Zephyr, Mika, Daisy, Molly, Latte, Riley, and Gizmo.

Keith came from a large family and shared many great times with them. He leaves behind his sister, Carol Stokes of Fargo, and his brothers, Lowell (Linda) Haring of Fargo and Bob (Barb) Haring of Thief River Falls, MN. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Erna Haring of Colorado Springs, CO and Wilma Haring of Ottertail, MN. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alvina Haring, his three brothers, Wayne Haring, William “Billy” Haring Jr., and Gene Haring, and his two sisters, Sharon Schmit and Jane Haring. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Tim Stokes and Larry Schmit, and his parents-in-law, Elmer and Edna Guderian.

The love for his family and friends and his spirit for sharing his passions with others will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
